Jan Day - Program Director
|
|

|
Jan Day will return for her third summer as the Program
Director. Jan grew up as a PK
(preacher’s kid) and recently “retired” as a Christian Educator. She and husband Bill, returned to North
Georgia three years ago to be close to family and involved in the life of their
grandson, James. (James will be a big
brother this summer to identical twin sisters!)
Jan has a married daughter living
in Asheville, NC. A
native of Tennessee,
Jan loves college football, NASCAR and kids of all ages!
Jan’s Biblical heroes are many – but she LOVES Samuel. As a young boy, he listened to the call of
God and wasn’t afraid to respond. He had
a great deal of courage and became a great leader in his community. God calls to many of us as young children –
you are never too young, or old, to do God’s work!

Margaret Nunez R.N.- Camp Nurse
|
|

|
I was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri and spent my summers at a girl’s camp in the woods of northern Wisconsin. I then went to Denison University in Granville, Ohio where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. My journey then took me to Atlanta, Georgia where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Emory University. I also met my husband, Tony, while at Emory. We were engaged for 2 years and have been married for almost 26 years. We are blessed with 3 beautiful children; Lauren, Brian, and John.
I worked as a medical/surgical nurse at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital (now Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta) until I started my family. I then worked in a corporate setting doing cost containment which was a wonderful opportunity to use my nursing skills in a different way. I am currently working during the school year as the nurse at Lockheed Elementary School in the Marietta City Schools district. This summer marks my 3rd summer as the nurse at Camp Cherokee and I can hardly wait for the summer to start! My camp days as camper, counselor, and now as camp nurse are among the happiest of my life.

Emily Williams - Counselor
|
|

|
Once upon a time there was
a girl named Emily Williams who attended Rome High School, and lived with her
dad, mom, younger brother, and dog named Jingles in Rome, Georgia. One day, she
realized that while she really enjoyed hanging out with her friends, playing at
the pottery studio, watching movies, baking cookies, and traveling during the
summer that she wanted to do more with her life. As she was thinking of
possible summer jobs, only one place came to mind – Camp Cherokee, the place
where she has gone almost every summer since 1999. Emily can’t wait to work at
camp this summer, and she especially can’t wait to make arts and crafts, go
canoeing, sing songs, toast marshmallows, make new friends, and most of all
have fun!
